Ahead of the India versus Sri Lanka World Cup match to be played on 2nd November, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s statue will be unveiled at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 1st November 2023.
The visuals of the statue depict graceful shots and elegant top-over strokes. It has been placed to Sachin Tendulkar’s stand marking the link between the great cricketer and the stadium where he created many memories during his cricketing career. The installation of Sachin Tendulkar statue inside the stadium took place this year which made the cricketing fans and enthusiasts.
It promises to be a star-studded affair with many dignitaries to participate in it. Tendulkar will do the honours and other notable guests including Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Many Key figures of BCCI will be present including Secretary Jay Shah and Treasurer Ashish Selar. Also, Mumbai Cricket Association People would be there for the event including President Amole Kale, Secretary Ajiyanka Naik, and other members of Apex Council coming together to feature on this big moment.
Sachin Tendulkar’s Career at Mumbai
The statue of Sachin Tendulkar is done by Pramod Kamble who hails from Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. Master Blaster played his last Test match in 2013 against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where people came to witness the historic farewell match.
Under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar realized his dream of winning the World Cup in the 2011 edition where the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka to win the trophy after a gap of 28 years.
Sachin Tendulkar came close to winning the title as they lost in the finals of the 2003 World Cup but lost to Australia in the finals at Johannesburg. He has a stand named at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai where the wax statue was unveiled.
Sachin Tendulkar has a great record across formats at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. He made 455 runs from 11 ODIs including century and 3 half-centuries. His performance in Test matches at this venue looks impressive with 847 runs from 10 matches including 148 runs against Sri Lanka in 1996/97.
