Team India will be looking to continue their emphatic run in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 when they take on England in Match 28 on Sunday, October 29 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. They are unbeaten in the tournament so far with five wins.

India is second currently on the table with 10 points and an NRR of 1.353. On the other hand, England has been disappointing so far in the tournament. They only have one win from five matches and are on a three-match losing streak. They lost to Sri Lanka in the match by eight wickets. Heading into the upcoming game, the Jos Buttler-led team will be hoping to end the losing-streak and find their second win of the tournament.

In this article, we take a look at the key player battles for India vs England match in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Key Player Battles for IND vs ENG

Virat Kohli vs Adil Rashid

Virat Kohli has once again showcased why he is considered one of the best in world cricket. He is India’s leading run-scorer in the tournament so far, and the fifth overall. In five matches, Kohli has scored 354 runs at an average of 118.00, including a century and three fifties. He will be keen to continue his emphatic form. However, he will be up against Adil Rashid, who has a great record against him. The spinner has dismissed Kohli thrice in ODIs, conceding 108 runs at a strike rate of 93.1.

Jos Buttler vs Mohammed Shami

England skipper Jos Buttler has been going through a lean patch in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He has an average of 19, scoring just 95 runs in five matches. His challenges are poised to increase when he faces Mohammed Shami in the upcoming matches. Shami took a five-wicket haul for India in his comeback match against New Zealand. Just like Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow too hasn’t had a great tournament so far for England. He has scored 127 runs in five matches, at an average of 25.40, including a fifty against Bangladesh, in their only win of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He will be keen to make a comeback for his team in the upcoming match. However, he will have to tackle Ravindra Jadeja who has dismissed him four times in One-day cricket. Jadeja has taken seven wickets in five matches in the tournament so far.
