ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: ‘Shubman Gill Is 99 Per Cent Available To Play,’ Confirms Rohit Sharma

The Indian team will face Pakistan in a mouthwatering contest played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 14 October 2023. It promises to be an exciting contest as India will be high on confidence after a dominating 8-wicket win over Afghanistan in the previous match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 11th October. And, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in a press conference that Shubman Gill is 99 per cent available to play against Pakistan.

The star opener did not play the first two matches against Australia and Afghanistan due to dengue fever. Shubman Gill arrived at Ahmedabad on Thursday in a bid to be fit for the high-octane clash against Pakistan. He batted for one hour and looked impressive. The Indian team will look to continue their winning form in World Cup history as they have 7 matches since 1992.

The star Indian batter did not travel to Delhi for their match against Afghanistan on Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but was discharged from the hospital as his health improved.

Indian team has won two successive matches against Australia and Afghanistan. Ishan Kishan was dismissed off the very first delivery by Mitchell Starc at Chennai. He then looked impressive with 47 off 47 deliveries against Afghanistan. It was a superb opening partnership between Kishan and Rohit Sharma putting on 156 runs as India won the match by 8 wickets with 15 overs to spare.

Shubman Gill’s Great Record In Ahmedabad

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has a great record across all formats at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Gill scored a brilliant century against Australia in the fourth Test played this year. He looked in sensational touch with his first T20I 100 against New Zealand this year.

He will be looking to replicate his form against Pakistan tomorrow and make sure that India puts pressure on their bowling. Shubman Gill is on the verge of becoming the number-ranked ODI batter if he scores 10 more runs.

India will be high on confidence as there could be one or two changes in the playing XI as Rohit Sharma said in the conference.
