ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: ‘Those Angry Celebrations Are A Thing Of The Past’: Virat Kohli Discusses A Challenging Phase Ahead Of The Mega Event

Virat Kohli, an illustrious Indian batsman, aims to secure his second World Cup title as the tournament kicks off in India on October 5. As the sole remaining player from the victorious 2011 World Cup team.

It was also hosted in the subcontinent, Kohli is determined to maximize this chance, considering it may be his final appearance in this prestigious event. While the former Indian captain has consistently been a fan favorite, Kohli enters the tournament in exceptional form.

The cricketer is very close to surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODIs, and based on his recent performances, it’s highly likely that this will occur during the upcoming World Cup.

Despite being widely recognized as the best in the business, Kohli experienced a challenging period that led to a 1020-day wait for his 71st international century.

However, this dry spell came to an end during the Asia Cup in September of the previous year when Kohli unexpectedly scored a century against Afghanistan in the shorter format, an accomplishment he hadn’t anticipated. Since then, he has continued his remarkable form, adding another six centuries to his total, bringing it to 77.

However, this period did provide Kohli with some valuable lessons, as he disclosed to the ICC. “The last two and a half years have taught me a lot. Those angry celebrations are a thing of the past. I have had many suggestions, lots of advice has come my way; people were telling me I was doing this wrong, that wrong.”

“I picked out all the videos from the best time I had, same initial movement, same approach towards the ball and it was just what was happening inside my head, I wasn’t able to explain it to anyone,” said Kohli.

Kohli is a tough opponent with the bat, and his aggressive attitude has often made him even better. He celebrates enthusiastically and engages in banter on the field. Kohli is known for responding strongly to challenges.
