Virat Kohli overtakes Sachin Tendulkar, becoming the first batsman worldwide to achieve 50 centuries in ODIs. In the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on November 15, Virat Kohli achieved his 50th century.

Anushka Sharma expressed her joy by blowing a flying kiss to Kohli after the former India captain reached this milestone. This century establishes Kohli as the first batsman globally to achieve 50 centuries in the ODI format, surpassing the record of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar (49 centuries).

It’s worth noting that this was the 35-year-old’s third century in the ongoing competition.

Following his century and record-breaking achievement, Virat Kohli paid homage to Sachin by bowing down. This heartfelt moment gained immense popularity among fans, and the image quickly circulated on the internet.

Virat Kohli creates history by becoming the first batsman to achieve 50 ODI centuries, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s legendary record of 49. In today’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup match, Kohli secured his 50th ODI century, breaking Tendulkar’s longstanding record.

Additionally, Kohli surpasses Tendulkar’s single World Cup run tally, going beyond Tendulkar’s 673 runs from the 2003 tournament. Aged 35, Kohli reached his century with a two off Lockie Ferguson after facing 106 balls.

His innings, featuring eight fours and a six, not only secured his 50th ODI century but also broke the shared record with Tendulkar, who had 49 ODI hundreds.

In the semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli celebrated by lifting his arms, kneeling, and acknowledging the fans with his helmet off. He achieved a score of 100, facing 106 balls in an almost flawless innings with minimal chances.

Kohli received significant support from Shreyas Iyer in the middle phase of the match. Kohli remained composed, leading India to another victory and securing the top spot in the group stage.
