ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli Puts On The Wrong Jersey Against Pakistan And Leaves The Field To Change Into The Correct One With The Indian Flag Colours

In the 12th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between India and Pakistan, a remarkable incident unfolded involving Virat Kohli. The Indian batting sensation was seen wearing a jersey different from his teammates, featuring three white stripes on the shoulder instead of the tricolor design.

This distinction quickly garnered widespread attention from fans and the media, resulting in viral images circulating online. Recognizing the error, Kohli promptly left the field to correct the situation. He changed into the proper jersey with the tricolor pattern and came back to continue the game.

Regarding the match, India won the coin toss and chose to field initially. Pakistan began cautiously, with Imam-ul-Haq striking three boundaries off Mohammad Siraj in the very first over.

However, the Indian bowlers soon tightened their control over the game. Pakistan managed to score only five runs from Jasprit Bumrah’s three overs as they displayed caution against him. After the initial ten overs, Pakistan’s score stood at 49/1.

Although Mohammad Siraj was a bit expensive, he provided India with their first breakthrough. He delivered a cross-seam ball that stayed low, leading to Abdullah Shafique being clearly dismissed LBW. Shafique chose not to review the decision and returned to the pavilion. At this stage, Pakistan’s score was 41/1.

The announcement of the team sheet for the match brought great joy to Indian fans, as the promising young batsman, Shubman Gill, was confirmed to play in this crucial game.

Shubman’s outstanding track record at this venue establishes him as a significant threat to any opposing team, and he will play a pivotal role in India’s batting lineup during this match.

It’s important to note that Pakistan has never defeated India in the ODI World Cup, with the current record standing at 7-0 in favor of India. When considering the T20 World Cups as well, the record extends to 13-1 in favor of India.

Pakistan is eager to change this record and draws confidence from their recent successful chase against Sri Lanka, where they pursued a target of nearly 350 runs in Hyderabad.

On the other hand, India enters the match with high confidence following their victories against Australia and Afghanistan in the tournament so far.
