Captains pose with trophy ahead of WC 2023

The wait is over as ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will begin with England facing New Zealand in the opening match of the tournament to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 5th October 2023. There was a captain’s meeting before the teams went to their respective destinations for their first matches.

All the 10 participating nations’ captains posed with the trophy ahead of the first match to be played tomorrow. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and England captain Jos Buttler were in front while other captains including Temba Bavuma, Scott Edwards, Dasun Shanaka, Babar Azam, Shakib AL Hasan, Hashmatullah Shahidi, Kane Williamson, Pat Cummins took photographs.

It promises to be an exciting World Cup as the matches will be held across 10 venues. The teams will play 9 matches each before the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals. India is looking strong and would look to win their first ICC title after a gap of 10 years. Australia, New Zealand, and England have been performing well and are one of the favourites to win the title.

The likes of Pakistan can surprise any opponent with their fickle nature of play. Sri Lanka has been undone by injuries as Hasranaga and Chameera have been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries.

Afghanistan, Netherlands, and Bangladesh need to play their best cricket to surprise top-playing nations including India, Australia, and England.
