ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Crowd Chants Jai Shree Ram During India vs Pakistan Match

India registered a thumping 7-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan in a one-sided contest played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 14th October 2023. The crowd at the stadium with a sea of blue witnessing the mega contest chanted Jai Shree Ram. With this win, India made it 8-0 in World Cup history since 1992.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. Imam UL Haq and Abdullah Shafique made a decent start before Siraj struck getting rid of Shafique. Babar Azam looked in decent touch along with Imam. Hardik Pandya dismissed Imam with a simple catch to KL Rahul. Babar Azam and Rizwan looked in decent touch keeping the scoreboard ticking. After completing his half-century, Siraj got rid of Babar Azam which led to a major collapse.

Kuldeep Yadav got wickets of Saud Shakeel with a review for LBW. The umpire gave not out but on review, it was overturned to out. He then dismissed Ifkthar Ahmed to leave Pakistan in trouble. Jasprit Bumrah showed him with a slower delivery to Rizwan and Shahbad Khan. It was a superb bowling effort by Indian bowlers as they skittled out Pakistan for 191 in 42.5 overs. Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets to dismiss Hasan Ali and then Haris Rauf via review. Apart from Shardul Thakur, Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets each.

Rohit Sharma led from the front

Chasing down 192 runs to win, Rohit Sharma looked in sublime touch putting pressure on the Pakistani bowlers. It was a sensational effort by the Indian captain hitting boundaries and sixes at will. Shubman Gill also looked in decent touch before providing an easy catch to Shahbad Khan at backward point.

Rohit Sharma took the pace bowlers and attacked the spinners as well. Virat Kohli timed the ball brilliantly keeping the scoreboard ticking. Rohit completed fifty off 36 deliveries. His batting looked at ease making life tough for Pakistan bowlers. Shreyas Iyer also showed his class keeping the scoreboard at ease. The Indian captain was dismissed for a well-made 86 from 63 deliveries.

Shreyas Iyer finished off the match with boundary and completed fifty off 62 deliveries. India won the match by 7 wickets with 117 balls to spare. For his figures of 2 for 19 in 7 overs, Bumrah was named player of the match award. With this dominating win, India moved to the top of the points table with a superior net run rate. They will now play Bangladesh in the next match at Pune.
