In a humorous turn of events, Afghanistan’s Mujeeb Ur Rahman neglected to put on his protective gear when he entered the field to bat in their 2023 World Cup match against Bangladesh at Dharamshala’s Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on October 7. He only recognized the oversight after reaching the crease, at which point a teammate hurried to supply him with the necessary protective equipment, including pocket underwear and an abdomen guard.
During the 35th over, after Rashid Khan was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mujeeb Ur Rahman came to bat. Unfortunately, he didn’t stay for long and was out after scoring just one run. Commentator Simon Doull emphasized the importance of protective gear as batters prepare to bat. The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared the video on Instagram with the following statement:
“Wrong bat? Forgot the gloves? Oh no!”
