Pakistan‘s World Cup team, led by Babar Azam, recently gave their opinions on Hyderabad biriyani in comparison to the Karachi biriyani. The team arrived in India for the 2023 World Cup and played warm-up matches against New Zealand and Australia in Hyderabad.
Babar found both biriyanis equally tasty, though he noted the Hyderabadi version had a bit more spice. On the other hand, Hasan Ali candidly declared that the Hyderabadi Biryani was superior to the one from Karachi.
Imam ul Haq and Haris Rauf refrained from favoring one over the other but highly praised the Hyderabad biriyani. The ICC shared a video on their Instagram account featuring the Pakistan players discussing their experiences with Hyderabad biriyani and its comparison to the one in Karachi.

The Pakistan players recently had a team dinner in Hyderabad where they sampled various cuisines, and pictures of the event were posted on the board’s social media accounts. However, the team’s on-field performance hasn’t been as expected.
They suffered defeats in both warm-up games against New Zealand and Australia, losing by five wickets and 14 runs, respectively.
Pakistan will commence their 2023 World Cup journey with a match against the Netherlands
Pakistan’s preparation for the 2023 World Cup has been troubled, marked by poor performance in the Asia Cup and some internal issues. While they excelled in the last two T20 World Cups, reaching the semifinals in 2021 and the final in 2022, their ODI World Cup performances have been less impressive.
After their 1992 victory, they reached the ODI World Cup final only once in 1999 and failed to qualify for the semifinals in the last two editions in 2015 and 2019. Their struggles in the Asia Cup resulted in them losing the top spot in the ICC ODI rankings to India.
Most of Pakistan’s squad has limited experience playing in India, despite their high ranking and pre-tournament favoritism. However, led by Babar Azam, they aim to secure their first 50-over World Cup victory in over three decades.
Pakistan will begin their 2023 campaign with a match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on October 6, and their highly anticipated clash against India is scheduled for October 14 in Ahmedabad.
