In the 2023 World Cup match against New Zealand in Dharamshala on Sunday, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja missed a chance to catch Rachin Ravindra‘s shot. This disappointed Mohammed Shami, who had already taken a wicket.
This happened during the 11th over of the game when the left-handed batsman played a delivery from Shami that was slightly away from his body. Ravindra hit the ball, but even though Jadeja, known as one of the best fielders on the Indian team, got both hands on it, he couldn’t make the catch.

In the lead-up to the match, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, made the decision to field first after winning the toss. His reasoning was the expected dew on the pitch.
The team introduced two changes, replacing Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur with Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami.
The New Zealand side, which remained undefeated, kept the same eleven players, as their regular captain Kane Williamson was still recovering from a thumb injury.
Team India management named Ravindra Jadeja the match’s best fielder after defeating Bangladesh
Following the seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in Pune, the management honored Ravindra Jadeja with the “Best Fielder of the Match” award.
Jadeja’s exceptional performance included a stunning catch at backward point that removed Mushfiqur Rahim at a crucial moment.
This wicket proved pivotal as it helped Team India limit Bangladesh to 256 runs, a total that they successfully chased down, largely thanks to Virat Kohli’s century.
In the game against Bangladesh, the 34-year-old did really well as a bowler, taking 2 wickets for 38 runs in 10 overs.
But his best performance was against Australia in Chennai, where he took 3 wickets and restricted Australia to 199 runs in nearly 50 overs. India won their first matches against Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
