ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Ravindra Jadeja’s Hilarious Response To Dismiss Steve Smith Goes viral

Team India’s versatile player, Ravindra Jadeja, responded in a humorous manner to a question about how he dismissed Steve Smith during the 2023 World Cup match against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Jadeja cheekily refused to divulge the details, joking that if he did, it would be published in English, allowing the opposition to learn about his tactics.

In that crucial match, Jadeja emerged as India’s standout bowler in their six-wicket victory over Australia. He delivered impressive figures of 3/28 in his allotted 10 overs, including two maidens. Among his three victims was the star Australian batsman, Steve Smith. Smith, who was well-set at 46, appeared on track for a substantial innings until Jadeja bowled a delivery that pitched on the middle and turned sharply past Smith’s bat. The ball proceeded to knock the off-stump, leaving Smith bewildered. Notably, this marked the 11th time that Jadeja had dismissed the prolific Australian batter.

Jadeja exclusively said: “Nahi nahi, yeh bataunga nahi. Aap English mein chaap denge, saamne waale samaj jayenge sab. Yeh nahi bataunga.” [I will not answer this. You will print it in English and the opposition team will come to know about it.

During a post-match press conference, the ICC’s Instagram handle shared a video of Jadeja, where he was asked to elaborate on his strategy for dismissing Smith. In response, Jadeja’s witty remark evoked laughter from the journalists present at the conference.

In the match, after Jadeja’s three-wicket haul restricted Australia to under 200 runs, Team India faced a mini-collapse, losing two wickets for just three runs. However, KL Rahul’s unbeaten 97 and Virat Kohli’s 85, who combined for a 165-run partnership, guided India to a remarkable victory.

Subsequently, India secured their second win of the 2023 World Cup by defeating Afghanistan by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler with figures of 4/39, and skipper Rohit Sharma’s explosive 131 off 84 balls ensured India comfortably chased down the target. Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer also made valuable contributions to India’s win.
