ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Team India Celebrates Virat Kohli’s Century And Ravindra Jadeja’s Fifer After Winning The Game

Following a decisive win over South Africa, the Indian team celebrated both Virat Kohli‘s 35th birthday and Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable five-wicket performance. Kohli also scored a century in this match.

Even though it took Kohli 121 balls to score 101 runs, his innings was vital for the home team. India managed to put up a strong score of 326/6 in their 50 overs.

The bowlers, led by Ravindra Jadeja, played a crucial part in India’s win. South Africa, on the other hand, were dismissed for a mere 83 runs, with none of their batsmen even reaching 20 runs.

Jadeja’s outstanding performance in taking five wickets completely disassembled South Africa’s batting order, ensuring a remarkable 243-run victory for the unbeaten Indian team.

Following the match, there was a special cake-cutting ceremony at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens to celebrate Virat Kohli’s 35th birthday. You can watch the video here:

Virat Kohli scored his 49th ODI century, matching Sachin Tendulkar’s record

Virat Kohli, the Indian cricketer, achieved his 49th ODI century, matching Sachin Tendulkar’s global record. Kohli, who celebrated his 35th birthday on the same day he reached this milestone, has amassed over 13,000 runs in ODI cricket in 277 innings, along with 70 half-centuries.

The current captain, Rohit Sharma, has hit 31 ODI centuries, which is the second most after Virat Kohli’s 49 centuries. In a match against South Africa, Virat Kohli scored 101 runs from 127 balls, setting a target of 327 runs for India on a challenging pitch and in hot weather.

The crowd at Eden Gardens cheered loudly as he reached 90 runs and celebrated when he reached 99, with many cameras flashing to capture the moment.

“I’m grateful to god for giving me the chance to play and contribute to the team’s success. It’s great to get a hundred on my birthday in front of this big crowd at this great venue,” Kohli mentioned after his innings on Sunday.
