ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH]: Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Show Their Frustration As Mohammad Rizwan Delays To take The Strike

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma voiced their annoyance as Mohammad Rizwan delayed his readiness to bat during the 2023 World Cup match between India and Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad.

Rohit Sharma raised the concern with the on-field umpire, while Virat Kohli chose a different approach to express his displeasure. He indicated his watch and pointed towards Mohammad Rizwan to highlight the delay.

The incident occurred in the 13th over following the dismissal of Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq by Hardik Pandya. When Mohammad Rizwan came in to bat at number four, he took a bit of time to prepare, including marking his position and getting ready to face the bowler.

This led to a situation where the Indian fielders and bowler Hardik Pandya were prepared and waiting for him for some time at that point in the match. You can watch the video here:

In the match, Team India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, won the toss and chose to bowl first because he thought that the dew in the later part of the match might assist his team’s batsmen during the run chase.

“Everyone has their own way of dealing with it” – Rohit Sharma on handling external pressure

In a press conference prior to the Pakistan match, Rohit Sharma shared that he has distanced himself from social media to reduce external distractions and pressures. He mentioned:

“I am not on social media for the past nine months now. Everyone has their own way of dealing with it. Some people like it, some don’t. That’s not my place to tell anyone, how to do it. They have to work out their own way of dealing with these things.”

Sharma added:

“It’s a massive game but for us what is important is playing an opposition tomorrow, which will be quality. We’ve got to play good cricket, which we have done in the last two games.”
