ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH]- Virat Kohli Dances To ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ During The Clash Against South Africa

Virat Kohli, the prominent figure of Team India, danced to the Bollywood hit ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi,’ sung by his wife Anushka Sharma, while fielding in the 2023 World Cup match against South Africa on his 35th birthday.

Kohli marked his birthday with a standout performance, earning the Player of the Match title by scoring a crucial century that played a key role in India’s victory.

Thanks to his unbeaten 101 from 121 balls, the home team posted a total of 326/5 in their allotted 50 overs. This proved to be an insurmountable target, as South Africa was dismissed for a mere 83 runs during their chase, resulting in a comprehensive 243-run victory for the hosts.

As the Indian bowlers took control of the second innings, Virat Kohli was having a good time engaging with the Eden Gardens crowd. He delighted the fans by performing the iconic dance move from Anushka Sharma’s well-known song ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ from the 2010 movie ‘Band Baaja Baaraat.’

“After surpassing 315 runs, we were confident that we had established a strong position”: Virat Kohli

During the post-match presentation, Virat Kohli revealed that the pitch didn’t play as smoothly as it appeared during the powerplay when the Indian openers were at the crease. He shared his thoughts on the victory and stated:

“People from the outside look at the game in a different way. When the openers start in that fashion, it feels it is a belter and everyone has to play that way. But the ball gets older, the pitch slows down. The message was clear – keep batting around me.”

Kohli continued:

“On pitches like these, if you get out, maybe we could have gotten 320-325. Once we got more than 315, we knew we were in a comfortable position. I am enjoying myself, playing cricket all over again.”

”That is more important for me. I am just happy that God has blessed me with that enjoyment again and that I can do what I have been able to do what I have been doing all these years.”
