Kohli, aged 35, achieved his century by taking a two off fast bowler Lockie Ferguson after facing 106 balls. His innings, featuring eight fours and a six, not only secured his 50th ODI century but also broke the record he shared with Sachin Tendulkar, who had 49 ODI hundreds.
After achieving a century in the semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli lifted his arms in celebration, then knelt and acknowledged the fans with his helmet off. He reached a score of 100, having faced 106 balls in an almost flawless innings with minimal chances.
