ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: [WATCH] Virat Kohli’s Amusing Run During Team India’s Practice Goes Viral

Indian batsman Virat Kohli entertained fans with his comical run in the nets during a practice session leading up to India’s opening match in the 2023 Cricket World Cup against Australia.

Wearing his pads, Kohli’s amusing run was reminiscent of his funny dash during an Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match against Bangladesh when he played the role of the ‘water boy.’ The video also featured Kohli having some fun with Jasprit Bumrah, alongside Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami.

On Friday, Suryakumar Yadav had two separate practice sessions. The full team, excluding captain Rohit Sharma, had an intensive two-and-a-half-hour training at Chepauk in preparation for the World Cup opener against Australia on Sunday. During this session, Rohit Sharma observed the net practice and engaged in a conversation with Shreyas Iyer for around 10 minutes. They discussed how to handle short-pitched deliveries and perfect the execution of pull and hook shots.

Rohit, renowned for his expertise in playing horizontal bat shots, demonstrated techniques for handling deliveries at varying heights, and Iyer listened intently. The most intriguing part of the training was Suryakumar Yadav’s session. In the primary nets, he showcased his wide range of T20 shots, including those played behind square using agile wristwork. While facing deliveries from left-arm throwdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne, Surya displayed his skill in playing “Supla” shots.

Suryakumar Yadav has faced difficulties in ODI cricket, particularly with deliveries that are directed straight and pitched at a length. After the completion of the primary practice nets located outside the stadium, he moved to another adjacent net near the centre strip to work on his ability to hit the ball straight down the ground.

It seemed like he was attempting to fulfil Dravid’s instruction to expand his capabilities in terms of “range-hitting.” While “range hitting” is a term often used in golf, coaches nowadays encourage players to excel in delivering powerful straight shots.
