Pakistan skipper Babar Azam led a strong outfit in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. He helped his side maintain an unbeaten record before losing to Australia in the semi-final. Meanwhile, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar analysed Babar’s captaincy in the tournament on his Youtube channel.

He said Babar is very young compared to the other captains in the tournament. Akhtar further said that Babar lost his composure in the final which because of his inexperience as an international skipper.

“You have to agree here that our (Pakistan) captain is young and new and in the end could not keep composed. On the other hand, Australia is a mature team and there they used their experience, culture, base to remain composed and did not get scared. Pakistan team, though, did not get scared but panicked.”

The former speedster said that this was Pakistan’s best chance to win the T20 World Cup title while lamenting the fact that they might not get another chance in the future.

“He (Babar Azam) is a new captain and I understand that but winning 5 out of 6 games, I thought this was Pakistan’s World Cup to win. This could have been won. We might not get such an easy chance ever again. We tried our best but the best was not good enough for yesterday. The better team won.”

With 303 runs from six innings, Babar Azam ended as the top scorer in the tournament. He might very well end up as the top-scorer of the tournament with no other player close to him in the run-scoring chart.

Australia will face New Zealand in the final as both teams eye their maiden T20 World Cup title. This was the second time Australia beat Pakistan in a T20 World Cup semi-final after 2010.
