The All-India Senior Selection Committee chairman Chetan Sharma has explained the reason behind leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the ICC T20 World Cup squad. On Wednesday, BCCI announced a star-studded squad for the global T20 meet, slated to commence on October 17 with the final scheduled on November 14.
Meanwhile, there was a ring of surprises in the squad with spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav missing out from the squad. The selection committee preferred spinners Rahul Chahar, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy apart from all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

‘Spinners who bowl quick was our priority. Hence, we went with Rahul Chahar,” while he admitted that Varun Chakravarthy is “surprise package as a mystery bowler.”
