India take on New Zealand in a crucial game in their group in the ICC T20 World Cup. Trent Boult is one of the biggest threats for India given how Shaheen Afridi bowled at the Indian top-order. Afridi dismissed both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul which started the Indian slide and they did not get the score ultimately that they looked for. In the end, Pakistan chased down the score and won the match by 10 wickets.

Trent Boult said that he would like to mirror Shaheen’s performance against India in their next game. It is a must-win for both teams to stay in the tournament.

“I suppose it depends on when I get the ball, I am not sure what the plan is with what overs certain bowlers are bowling. The way Shaheen bowled against India was amazing, but yeah India has quality batters, early wickets are the focus for us but we need to be nice and accurate of where we are trying to put the ball. Hopefully, it swings around a little bit and I can mirror what Shaheen did the other night,” said Boult while replying to an ANI query during a virtual pre-match press conference.

Boult and Shaheen are both good at bowling incoming deliveries by pitching the ball up in the initial overs. Given how prodigiously the Pakistan pacer was able to move the ball, the Kiwi left-armer is looking to take the leaf out of Shaheen’s book. Boult has dismissed his Mumbai Indians skipper twice in three innings before in the format. Along with Rohit, Trent Boult up against Virat Kohli is another exciting match-up in the contest.

Boys Are Pretty Upbeat: Trent Boult

Trent Boult also gave an insight on how the team is prepping up before the big game against India.

“Boys are pretty upbeat, excited about the chance of taking on India tomorrow night. Not the best start for us against Pakistan who obviously played some pretty good cricket. Boys are excited and we are looking forward to the challenge that India brings,” said the left-arm pacer.

“Whatever we do first, we need to do it well. India brings a lot of challenges, they are a quality side. But with the ball, we just need to be clear in our options on how to shut these people down and obviously give them a bigger chase as possible if we bat first. We look forward to taking it on,” he added.
