Spin legend Shane Warne has had his say on who he thinks will be the top four teams to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Currently, England and Pakistan are topping their respective groups. Australia were unbeaten until England beat them in the match against them. While Pakistan have stamped their authority in the tournament by beating India and Pakistan in group 2.
India take on New Zealand in a virtual quarter-final clash from group 2. The winner of this game will finish second in the group and will qualify for the semis alongside Pakistan. Meanwhile, South Africa won a crucial game against South Africa in group one to keep their chances alive.
West Indies and Bangladesh are the teams lagging behind in that group. A loss to Sri Lanka have pegged them back in the group as well. South Africa will face England later on in the tournament. A win for the Proteas in that match will change the equation in that group as well.
Meanwhile taking to Twitter, Shane Warne shared his predictions on teams who he thinks will make it to the last four. According to Warne, the two teams that will top Group 1 are England and Australia. And, the two teams that will top Group 2 are Pakistan and India.
So, according to Warne, England and India will play one semifinal, while the other semifinal will be played between Australia and Pakistan.
I still believe the teams that will top each group & make it through will look like this, plus semi’s & final…
1.England
2. Australia1.Pakistan
2. IndiaSemi’s
Eng V India
Aust V PakSo final will be either
India V Pak or
Aust V England @SkyCricket @FoxCricket— Shane Warne (@ShaneWarne) October 30, 2021
He further predicted the possible finalists of the tournament as well. Warne predicted that the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 final will be played between either India-Pakistan or Australian-England.
Both these teams played each other in the final once before. India beat Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup, while England beat their arch-rivals in 2010 final. Pakistan won the title in 2009 beating Sri Lanka in the final.
