ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Shoaib Akhtar Takes A Dig At New Zealand Ahead Of WC Game Against Pakistan

Shoaib Akhtar Trolls New Zealand

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar is busy making controversial statements ahead of Pakistan’s game against New Zealand. He irst took a dig at the Indian media for their biased coverage of the Indo-Pak game which Pakistan won. Now he has taken a dig at the New Zealand Cricket team ahead if their game against Pakistan in ICC T20 World Cup.

This match kickstarts New Zealand’s campaign in the tournament and Shoaib Akhtar has attempted to puncture their confidence right at the start.

Taking to Twitter, he wrote ” I request all Pakistan fans to remain silent and not enjoy too extravagantly. There is every chance that New Zealand may ask for the match to be called off due to too much noise inside the stadium, if not for security concerns”

Akhtar’s comments come from New Zealand’s pull out of the Pakistan tour due to security concerns earlier this year. New Zealand pulled out of their recent trip to Pakistan due to security issues. The players were told to not take the field just five minutes before the match was about to start due to security concerns. PCB Chief Ramiz Raja got very angry at how the sequence of events happened which finally ended up in the tour being cancelled.

Pakistan winning their first T20 World Cup game against India has made their former cricketers go wild in a sense. Controversial comments are coming in from various corners of the country.

Shoaib Akhtar Takes A Dig At Indian Media

Now taking a dig at the Indian media, Akhtar said that they do it to gain TRP’s for their channels. He further opined that Pakistan and India are pretty much equally matched and both the teams can beat each other on their respective days.

“Why does the Indian media portray that their team cannot lose a match? This is cricket. Pakistan comprehensively beat India and the same can happen to Pakistan. That’s the beauty of the game,” Shoaib Akhtar said.

“I understand why media do it, it is their business. I will never understand how ex-cricketers who have played cricket at the highest level use such foul language against their own cricket team after they suffer a defeat. It is extremely disappointing,” he further stated.
