The former India captain has been admired by young cricketers across nations. It has been a ritual in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with junior players coming up to MS Dhoni to have a chat with him after every Chennai Super Kings game.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been appointed as Team India mentor for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE and Oman. He retired from international cricket last year on August 15, however, continues to play for CSK in the IPL.

“Wanted to involve MS Dhoni as a mentor for a long time” – Sourav Ganguly

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly asserted the decision to have the former India captain, MS Dhoni, on board was not an overnight call and that they wanted him for a long time.

“Jay (Shah) and I were discussing for a long time about how to involve Dhoni. He has won 2 World Cups after all and has not left cricket completely. Hopefully, he will be a good addition. It can’t possibly be bad. Let’s see,” Sourav Ganguly said while talking to Salam Cricket.

It remains to be seen whether MS Dhoni continues to be in the position after the T20 World Cup 2021.
