ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Canada Players Thrilled To Face Virat Kohli And Suryakumar Yadav, Calling It A “Dream Come True”

The Canada players expressed their admiration for Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav as they prepared to face India in the Group A match of the T20 World Cup 2024. This will be the first T20I encounter between the two teams, offering a significant opportunity for Saad Bin Zafar’s squad to challenge India.

The Canada players praised the Indian team and its players for their well-earned reputations, calling the upcoming match a “dream come true” moment and a chance to test their skills against the No. 1 ranked T20 team.

The weather in Florida looks unfavourable as Miami has been dealing with flash floods. The match is set to take place at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. So far, the two scheduled matches at this venue have been washed out due to rain and thunderstorms.

India remains unaffected as they have already secured a spot in the Super 8 stage. On the other hand, Canada has not qualified for the next stage. Nevertheless, they achieved a remarkable victory against Scotland in their Group A match.

Canada Players Praise Kohli and Suryakumar

“Virat Kohli is my favourite for what he has done, not just for Indian cricket but, for world cricket. I have all admiration for him,” Saad Bin Zafar said.

“Got to be Kohli, like just watching him. Obviously, the way he plays like both sides of the wicket, to be honest. But like Kohli cover drive is a classic,” Nicholas Kirton said.

Kohli has yet to make a significant impact in the tournament, having scored only 5 runs across 3 matches so far. “Suryakumar Yadav, I mean, the position he gets into, and he makes it look so effortless ,” Jeremy Gordon said.

Will Canada rise a challenge against India?

“India being the number one T20I team at the moment and for us to share the same platform, same ground with them, like it’s an exciting time. And if we can do well, we can make a name for ourselves in the cricketing circuit,” Zafar added.

“We have nothing to lose. You know, this is a dream come true. They have their skills. We have proven what they can do, and it’s up to us to prove what we can do,” Aaron Johnson said.

If the weather cooperates, Canada aims to compete strongly, similar to how the USA did against India.
