Ireland announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the USA and West Indies from 2nd June onwards. The experienced Paul Stirling will lead the Ireland side. Andrew Balbirnie, Curtis Campher, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, and Gareth Delany would comprise of strong batting order.

The likes of Craig Young, Joshua Little, Barry McCarthy, and Curtis Campher would comprise the pace bowling options. George Dockrell and Ben White consist of spin bowling options for Ireland’s side in the upcoming tournament. Paul Stirling could do the duty of part-time spin bowling option.

Ireland’s Schedule For ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Ireland has been clubbed with Pakistan, India, the United States of America, and Canada. They will start their tournament against India on 5th June in New York. They will next face Canada in the 2nd Pool A match at the same venue in New York.

Ireland will then face the United States of America in their third match to be played in Lauderhill on 14th June. They would finish the group stage against Pakistan at Lauderhill, Florida on 16th June. Ireland is favourites to defeat the USA and Canada but will be a tough challenge against India and Pakistan. If they could defeat one of them, it would be a huge achievement to qualify for the Super 8 stage.

Ireland qualified for the mega event by finishing 2nd in the Europe qualifiers from 20th-28th July 2023. Their only loss came against Scotland in the final group match.

Ireland had a great performance in the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup. They defeated two-time Champion West Indies and Scotland to qualify for the Super 12 stage. During the Super 12 stage, Ireland stunned England via the DLS method. They were clubbed with Sri Lanka, Australia, England, and Afghanistan. They finished 5th in the Super 12 stage with 3 losses, 1 win, and 1 no-result.
