ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Namibia Announce Squad For Mega Event

ICC T20 World Cup 2024

Namibia

Namibia announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the USA and West Indies from 2nd June onwards. It looks like a balanced unit with Gerald Erasmus leading the side. The biggest omission for Namibia is Lofite Eaton who smashed 33 ball century this year.

They have good quality batting including captain Erasmus, Zane Green, and Michael Van Lingen. It will be a big test for Namibia batters. The pace bowling comprises Dylan Leicher, Ruben Truumplemann, and Jack Brasell. David Wiese is another good quality pace bowling option who has experience of playing for Namibia.  They would be looking to play good cricket.

Namibia’s Schedule For T20 World Cup 2024

Namibia is clubbed with Australia, England, Scotland, and Oman in Group B. They will begin their tournament against Oman on 2nd June at Kennington Oval, Barbados. After this, they will face Scotland in their 2nd match on the 6th at Barbados.

Their biggest challenge would be against Australia on 11th June at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. Namibia will face England in their final group match to be played on 15th June at Antigua. Erasmus-led side will look to give a tough fight to Australia and England. They might defeat the likes of Oman and Scotland. If they could defeat one of the contenders, then Namibia might qualify for the playoff stage.

Namibia qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by finishing top of Africa qualifiers played from 22nd to 30th November 2023. They did not lose any matches in that tournament, defeating all teams and making it into the mega event.

Namibia stunned Sri Lanka in the first match of the T20 World Cup first match in 2022 before losing to Netherlands and UAE to be knocked out of the tournament.
