The swashbuckling opener of Australia David Warner has commented upon the T20 World Cup. The event was supposed to be played in Australia between October and November this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all sporting events have been cancelled or postponed.
Warner was in conversation with star India player Rohit Sharma in a live chat on Instagram. The two players chatted about various topics including cricket. When Rohit asked Warner about what he thinks of the T20 blitz taking place this year, the Aussie revealed that it is highly unlikely that the event would take place in his home country as scheduled. Warner said that according to him, he doesn’t think that the International Cricket Council (ICC) will go ahead with the marquee event.

David Warner, during an Instagram Live chat with Rohit Sharma, stated, “The ICC World Cup here will not take place here by the looks of it. It will difficult to get all the 16 teams together here”.
Cricket Australia is slated to discuss the fate of the T20 World Cup with ICC. The Australian Cricket Board and ICC will be talking about the future of the event in a teleconference on May 8. It will be really interesting to see the outcome of this all-important meeting between the two boards.

BCCI treasurer Amul Dhumal in a conversation with PTI said the fate of T20 World Cup will decide the destiny of the IPL. He explained that if the ICC event doesn’t go ahead, it may be possible the IPL be played during that time if the situation improves in India.
“ If the situation improves by that time (September and October), we also think about the WT20 and Asia Cup and according we will take a call. For a full-fledged IPL to happen, you have to have at least 45-50 days. Whether we will get the window, it is still a question mark”.
