Jake Fraser McGurk

IPL 2024

The explosive right-handed Australian opener Jake Fraser McGurk and Matthew Short have been named as travelling reserves for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 to be played in the USA and West Indies starting from 2nd June onwards.

Australian chairman George Bailey said that they would carry only one reserve with the provisional squad but are likely to add Jake Fraser McGurk for the T20 World Cup 2024. Australia would play Namibia and West Indies in 2 warm-up matches before the first World Cup match.

Cameron Green, Maxwell, Travis Head, and Mitchell Starc will not arrive in the West Indies since they are currently in the playoffs of IPL 2024 which will finish on 26th May.

Australia has a strong batting unit with the likes of Travis Head, David Warner, Tim David, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, and Cameron Green who can change the course of the game with their power-hitting. Mitchell Marsh would lead the side and hope to lead Australia to their second T20 title.

The pace bowling unit looks strong with the likes of Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Ellis, and Josh Hazelwood who can trouble the batters with their disciplined lines and lengths. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar would be leading spinners for the mega event and hoping to create the same impact that he did in the 50-over World Cup 2023 that was played in India.

Australia has been clubbed with Oman, Namibia, England, and Scotland in Group B. They would begin their journey against Oman on 5th June at Kennington Oval, Barbados. After this, they will play against arch-rivals England on 8th June at Barbados. Australia would take on 11th June at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua. Their last match of the tournament will be against Scotland on 15th June at St Lucia.

Fraser could get a chance if one of the openers gets injured. He would be eager to showcase his talent if provided a chance.
