‘If Banned From IPL, Why Shouldn’t I Play Other T20 Leagues?’ Pravin Tambe Questions BCCI

Pravin Tambe has been shooting the headlines in recent times. BCCI recently banned him from playing in the IPL and subsequently Tambe registered for the CPL draft. Trinidad & Tobago Knight Riders (TKR) franchise picked the 48-year-old spinner in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft.

Since then, there has been a lot of dilemma over his participation. Media reports suggest that Pravin Tambe needs a NOC from BCCI to feature in CPL 2020. The leg spinner feels there is no reason why he shouldn’t play in foreign T20 leagues.

Tambe wants to play in foreign leagues since BCCI does not allow him to feature in the domestic competitions. The leg spinner said he’s ready to take all precautions and follow all necessary protocols before going.

Pravin Tambe, who was bought by KKR in the 2020 IPL auction was recently barred from playing in the IPL. Due to his stint with the Sindhis team in the Abu Dhabi T10 league in 2018. It is said that Tambe retired in 2018 to Play in the T10 League then came out of retirement in 2019 to play in the T20 Mumbai League and went on to register for the 2020 IPL auction.

BCCI is upset since Tambe flouted BCCI rules to play in the Abu Dhabi T10 league. They want him to retire if he wants to take part in the foreign leagues.

“Tambe has to retire in order to play foreign leagues. In any case, the IPL governing council will have to decide on his fate as he has already flouted BCCI rules when he played T10 league in Abu Dhabi. He is an active domestic player,” a BCCI official told PTI.

Tambe has represented three franchises between 2013 and 2017 having picked 28 wickets in 33 IPL games which also includes a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014.
