Indian wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson who has been in the news recently for not getting enough opportunities with the men in blue finally found a place for himself in starting 11 in the first T20I against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede stadium, Mumbai.
Unfortunately, he was unable to capitalise on this opportunity for which fans are trolling him on social media. Sanju Samson came to bat at four in the powerplay after the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav. He had the ideal opportunity to bat deep into the innings but was dismissed for a mere 5 runs by Dhananjaya de Silva.
Let’s take a look at some of the Twitter reactions on the dismissal of Sanju Samson:
Unpopular opinion- If you got chance dont be sanju samson🙂

I think there has been too much pressure on @IamSanjuSamson to perform with the constant dropping and huge rallying for his inclusion in the playing XI. The pressure to perform well can affect your performance. #SanjuSamson

If he'd have had come at 5 today with 3 down, he'd have scored another 40+ and would have got out in the death trying to score boundaries. That's how I see him play. That's his mentality. And that ensures he is in talks on why he's not supported.#SanjuSamson #INDvSL

Sanju Samson batted like he had no interest in batting.
And then he dropped the opportunity given to him.

He also dropped a catch at mid-off of Pathum Nissanka. A leading edge pops to Samson’s right at mid-off dives across and appears to catch the ball but it pops out of his hands as he falls to the ground. It doesn’t matter; the opportunity is gone. Nissanka shuts his face too soon on another lovely outswinger from Pandya around the off-stump area.
India who was put into bat first put on an under-par score of 162-5 courtesy of the finishing touches by Deepak Hooda and Axar Patel who remained not out at 41 and 31 respectively. India had gotten off to a flyer in the first over scoring 17 runs but from there just lost their way and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. This was a rare instance where Suryakumar Yadav failed to fire.Â
After posting a below-par score India will require an exceptional bowling display with an inexperienced bowling lineup in order to defend this total.
