Yuzvendra Chahal said goodbye to his old Rajasthan Royals (RR) partner Jos Buttler with passion. Prior to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction, which is set for November 24–25, RR released both Chahal and Buttler.

RR retained six players in the list: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson (captain), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, and Sandeep Sharma. Perhaps, quite surprisingly, neither RR nor the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) possess the Right to Match (RTM) card. This, of course, means that RR will have to bid for Buttler and Chahal in the auction and cannot offer any preferential treatment for the duos if they are still available for bidding for the next season.

Chahal especially shows the friendliest temper and in his farewell message to Buttler, it is evident that they are good friends. Whether two of the four teams sign or all end up at RR will be determined by the next auction.

Everyone will be watching what RR does, as the IPL 2025 auction should be exciting with many star players that will be on the block. Will Buttler and Chahal play for the Royals next year again or will they be transferred to some other team? That will be made clear during the sale.

“Thank you for always standing by me”- Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal wrote Jos Buttler a loving farewell letter. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) did not sign Chahal or Buttler for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, Chahal commended Buttler for being there for him no matter what. Additionally, he jokingly expressed his desire for him and Buttler to “open the batting together.”

“In 2022, I knew him as Jos Buttler. In 2024, he’s my Jos bhai. I loved every day being around you and only a few people know what you’ve done for me. Thank you for always standing by me. And hopefully, on some evening at 7.30 PM, we both will open the batting together,” Chahal wrote.

Chahal holds the record for most wickets taken in the tournament’s history. The leg-spinner has claimed 205 wickets in 160 games, with six four-wicket and one five-wicket haul.
