IND v SL 2022: “The Wait For 71st Century Continues..” Twitter Disappointed As Virat Kohli Is Dismissed For 45

The prolonged wait for Virat Kohli’s 71st International century continues as the batter has failed to convert in the ongoing test match against Sri Lanka at Mohali. This match marks the ex-Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s 100th test for India.

The right-hander was dismissed for 45 runs off 76 deliveries, including 5 boundaries. Embuldeniya bowled a flighted delivery around the good length area, which spun away from Kohli beating the outside edge and hitting the top of the off-stump.

Virat Kohli was looking in good touch, set to end the wait for the 71st century. However,  he paid the price for playing the ball on the back foot.

Virat Kohli came out to bat after Mayank Agarwal was dismissed by Embuldeniya. He partnered with Hanuma Vihari to put together a 90-runs partnership for the third wicket stand. Soon after the fall of Kohli’s wicket, Vihari too was dismissed by Vishwa Fernando.

Earlier in the day, the Head coach of the Indian team Rahul Dravid felicitated Virat Kohli for his 100 Test matches achievement. “It’s well deserved, it’s well earned, and as we say in the dressing room, double it up,” said Dravid as he honoured Kohli with the 100th Test cap.

Upon receiving the cap, Kohli thanked his Dravid, his family, and the BCCI. “Thanks, Rahul bhai, it’s a special moment for me. My wife is here with me, my brother is there in the stands. It’s a team game and the journey wouldn’t have been possible without you guys. Thanks to BCCI too. I couldn’t have received it from a better person, my childhood hero. I still have that picture with you from my U-15 days,” said Kohli.

Meanwhile, India has 185 runs on the board at the loss of four wickets. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are at the crease.

Let’s take a look at Twitteratti’s reaction to Kohli’s dismissal:
