IND vs AFG: [WATCH] The Final Over Of Afghanistan’s Innings Witnessed Two Run-Out

The focus will be on Virat Kohli as he makes a comeback to the Indian cricket team in the second T20I against Afghanistan. Kohli skipped the first T20I for personal reasons. With only two T20Is remaining before the World Cup, Kohli is highly likely to secure a spot in the playing XI.

Yashasvi Jaiswal won a race against Fazalhaq Farooqi after a chaotic moment where Afghanistan lost three wickets in just two legal deliveries. With two balls remaining in their innings, Afghanistan stood at 170-7. They eventually wrapped up at 172 all out, witnessing Noor Ahmad’s conventional dismissal followed by two comical run-outs on the last legal ball.

Initially, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Naveen-ul-Haq found themselves at the same end due to a wide delivery, with Naveen missing the swing, and Mujeeb attempting a bye. Despite the situation, Naveen remained steadfast, leading to a straightforward run-out at the non-striker’s end for India. After a wide was called, Naveen faced the next delivery from Arshdeep, who delivered a precise yorker.

Naveen managed to dig it out but attempted a single this time. Although Jitesh Sharma’s throw could have resulted in a run-out, the batsmen aimed for an overthrow. Instead of throwing the stumps down, Jaiswal ran with the ball, confident in his ability to outrun Farooqi. The decision paid off, as Jaiswal dislodged the bails just before Farooqi reached the crease.

Two run-outs occurred in the last over of Afghanistan’s innings

The innings concluded with two run-outs and Afghanistan’s total stands at 172. Although Gurbaz provided a quick start, scoring only 14 runs. Gulbadin Naib, elevated to number 3, showcased impressive shots, propelling Afghanistan to 50/1 in 5 overs.

Despite Gulbadin’s fiery fifty, he lacked substantial support from the other batsmen. The three Afghanistan players, Mujeeb, Naveen, and Farooqi, who were part of the mentioned sequence, were recently caught up in a contract dispute with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Initially, they faced a two-year ban from overseas franchise cricket, but the penalties have been reduced since then.
