Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill

India will face Australia in the 2nd One-day international match to be played at Holkar Stadium, Indore on 24 September 2023. It promises to be a high high-scoring venue with shorter boundaries that puts the bowlers under immense pressure.

The Indian team will be high on confidence after 5 wickets win over Australia in the first ODI match at Mohali. On the other hand, Australian batters got starts but were not able to convert starts into big scores. India and Australia would look to display attacking shots in the 2nd One-day international on a superb batting pitch at Indore.

Here we look at the 3 Probable Run Scorer in the 2nd ODI Between India and Australia.

  1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill showed his class with a well-compiled 74 off 63 deliveries in the first One-day international against Australia in Mohali. He opened the innings and dominated Australian bowlers with some attacking shots that put pressure on opponent bowlers.

Gill reached fifty off just 37 deliveries not allowing the Australian bowlers to settle. He would look to continue his superb form in 2nd One-day international at Indore. The dashing opener scored a superb century at Indore against New Zealand this year. He could be a major threat for the Australians in the first 10 overs and make sure that India posts a big total or chase down the target.

  1. Steve Smith

Steve Smith returned from an injury in the first One-day international match at Mohali. He looked in decent touch with some lovely shots against the Indian pace bowling attack and showed intent against the spinners keeping the scoreboard ticking along with David Warner.

He kept the momentum going for Australia taking singles and hitting boundaries. He was dismissed by Mohammed Shami. His knock looked composed scoring 41 off 60 deliveries with 3 fours and 1 six.

Smith would be key for Australia to score big runs if they need to challenge India and gain confidence ahead of the World Cup 2023 starting from 5th October.

  1. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav showed his composure with a well-complied half-century in the first ODI at Mohali. India lost 4th wicket in succession after 142 runs opening partnership between Shubman Gill and Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Suryakumar looked in decent touch with some delightful shots against the pacers and did not play any sweep shots against Zampa and Short. He completed his 3rd ODI fifty off 47 deliveries before providing a simple catch to Mitchell Marsh. It was a superb innings by Suryakumar Yadav that helped India on course for a win.

He would look to continue with another superb performance at number 6 and stake a claim in the playing XI for the first match against Australia on 8th October 2023 at Chennai.
