A video of Virat Kohli‘s stunned reaction to a groundsman’s surprise has gone viral. Prior to the highly anticipated ODI World Cup in 2023, the Indian cricket team competed in a three-match ODI series against Australia.
The series featured exceptional performances, leading to India’s strong 2-0 lead after the initial two matches. A significant aspect of this series is the absence of star batsman Virat Kohli, who has been rightfully rested.
During the Asia Cup, the Indian team performed exceptionally well. They easily defeated Sri Lanka, winning by ten wickets, thanks to an outstanding bowling performance by Mohammad Siraj that broke records. It’s worth noting that Virat Kohli was in outstanding form during the Asia Cup, especially highlighted by his impressive century against Pakistan in the super four match.
A recent video that went viral from the Asia Cup revealed a unique moment involving Virat Kohli. In a match against Bangladesh, a humorous incident took place when a groundsman unexpectedly sounded a horn while Kohli was glancing at the dugout. This sudden noise caught the former India captain off guard, leading to a hilarious reaction that amused both Kohli and the fan who recorded the video.
Virat Kohli returns for the Rajkot ODI against Australia
Having been given rest for the initial two matches against Australia, Kohli is set to make his return for the third game in Rajkot on September 27, joining captain Rohit Sharma. As the No. 3 batsman, he will bear the crucial responsibility of scoring substantial runs and play a key role in India’s preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023.
India’s World Cup journey begins on October 8 in Chennai when they face Australia. The tournament opener on October 5 will see England and New Zealand, the finalists of the previous edition, clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Additionally, both Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams have successfully obtained their visas for the marquee event.
The Pakistani players and support staff are expected to receive their visas on Tuesday, allowing them to participate in the quadrennial tournament. The Pakistan cricket team is due to arrive in Hyderabad via Dubai on September 27, preparing for their first warm-up match against New Zealand on September 29.
