Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a decent start putting pressure on the Australian bowlers. Australian spinners created havoc as India lost wickets at quick intervals making life tough for the Indian batters on a pitch that helped the spin bowlers.
Virat Kohli looked impressive with his solid technique putting bad deliveries away for boundaries and keeping the scoreboard ticking. The Indian batting crumbled against disciplined Australian bowling. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shreyas Iyer looked out of sorts leaving India in big trouble.
Virat Kohli was looking good before Todd Murphy got him for the 3rd time in the series. He played across the line and was given LBW. Kohli reviewed the decision and the decision was upheld. Soon after, KS Bharat also fell to leave India in massive trouble at 84 for 7 at lunch break.
Umesh Yadav provided some entertainment with attacking shots before Kuhemann picked his maiden 5 wicket haul in Test matches. A disciplined bowling effort helped Australia bundle out India for just 109.
Virat Kohli getting out to Todd Murphy in this series
Virat Kohli had a disappointing outing against Todd Murphy in this series so far. He was dismissed down the leg catch by Alex Carey off Murphy during the first innings at Nagpur. The Indian team produced a dominating display to win the first Test match by innings and 132 runs.
After a controversial LBW decision in the first innings, Kohli looked settled in the second innings at New Delhi, before coming down the track and being stumped by Carey off Murphy’s bowling.
