IND vs ENG: 3 Indian Players To Look Out For In The 2nd Test

WTC India

WTC Points table after the first test match between India and England

Team India would look to level the series when they face England in the 2nd Test match at Vizag from 2nd February onwards. It promises to be an exciting test match as the hosts suffered a shocking 28-run loss in the first Test match at Hyderabad.

Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar have been included in the squad for this test match. It will be interesting to witness whom India would debut Rajat Patidar or Sarfaraz Khan.

Here we look at the 3 Indian Players To Look Out For In the 2nd Test match against England.

  1. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has an excellent record at Vizag in Test matches. He made his debut as a Test opener in the 2019 Test match against South Africa. During this match, Rohit scored quickfire 176 and 127 to become the few batters to score centuries in both innings.

He will play a key role in helping Team India provide attacking starts in a good batting paradise. Rohit would look to create pressure on an inexperienced spin bowling line including Shoaib Bashir, Tom Hartley, Rehan Ahmed, and Joe Root.

His attacking batting style will decide the fate of the Indian team and help provide solid starts along with Jaiswal which would lay a strong foundation to keep pressure on England’s bowling.

  1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer had a disappointing outing in the first Test match at Hyderabad. He got started in the first innings but was not able to convert into a big score. With India chasing 231 runs, Iyer could not rotate the strike and was dismissed putting enough pressure on the batting lineup.

With no KL Rahul in the playing XI, Shreyas Iyer could come higher up the order and make sure that he plays an impressive knock to put enough pressure on the England bowling lineup.

If he could provide the attacking style, it would be beneficial for the Indian team to keep the scoreboard ticking and ensure the hosts level the series at 1-1.

  1. Ravichandran Ashwin

The legendary off-spinner had a decent outing with 3 wickets in both innings. He bowled with great control in the first outing dismissing Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, and Mark Wood. After a quickfire start by England openers, Ashwin got the breakthrough dismissing Crawley. He then produced a peach to get rid of Stokes.

He looked out of sorts as Ollie Pope and the lower order played with intent. R Ashwin would look to play with an aggressive approach making sure that India put pressure on the England batters who showed intent. With no Ravindra Jadeja in the squad, R Ashwin would look to play an all-rounder role and help Team India register victory to make a comeback in the series.
