Team India captain Rohit Sharma led the team from the front in the third Test match against England on Thursday, February 15 at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot. He slammed a century in the first innings, bailing the team out of trouble.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. India started poorly, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal in the fourth over of the match. India was soon reduced to 33 for losing three wickets, with Shubman Gill and Rajat Patidar also back in the pavilion. Ravindra Jadeja joined the Indian skipper at the crease. The duo got together to build a partnership.

In the fifty-third over, Rohit Sharma cut a flatter delivery towards the deep point fielder. He took a couple of runs to get to the three-figure mark. He had muted celebrations, indicating that the jo is yet to be done. Rohit took the charge after his century, taking on the bowlers. He was dismissed for 131 runs by Mark Wood. He slammed fourteen boundaries and three sixes. The skipper and Ravindra Jadeja added 204 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership.

Team India managed to recover from their early mini-collapse on the back of Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja’s partnership. They helped India to get to 237 before the Indian captain’s dismissal. Ravindra Jadeja is also approaching his century in the match. Debutant Sarfaraz Khan joined the all-rounder at the crease, with Dhruv Jurel to follow.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill bagged a nine-ball duck earlier in the innings. He was dismissed by Mark Wood. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a run-a-ball 10, while Rajat Patidar scored five runs. India has made three changes to their playing XI. Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan and Mohammed Siraj have replaced KS Bharat, Shreyas Iyer and Mukesh Kumar.
