Harry Brook withdraws from Test series against India

The England Cricket Team has been dealt a major blow as explosive middle order batter, Harry Brook has withdrawn from the test series against India to be played from 25th January onwards due to personal reasons.

It is a major blow for the England team as Brook has played a key role in bazeball era. He made his Test debut against South Africa in the final Test match at Kennington Oval in 2022 and scored four centuries during that time at an amazing strike rate. England played their last series on Indian soil during 2019-20 and lost the series by 1-3 after winning the first match at Chennai.

The ECB said in a statement: “Harry Brook is set to return home with immediate effect for personal reasons from the England Men’s Test tour of India. The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space.”

It promises to be an exciting series with India looking to extend their domination over England in India. Under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, England would look to win first ever Test series victory on Indian soil after 2012.

Harry Brook was promoted to number 3 during the 2023 Ashes series against Australia after Ollie Pope suffered a shoulder injury. His absence could see Jonny Bairstow as a batter while Ben Foakes could do the duty of wicketkeeping for the Test series that will start from 25th January onwards.

Dan Lawerence’s Replacement For Harry Brook

England selectors named Dan Lawerence as a replacement for Harry Brook. Lawrence was the spare batter last summer but did not get a chance to play in the XI. He played in Big Bash season 13 before arriving for the international league T20 tournament that is taking place in the United Arab Emirates.

He is set to arrive on Indian soil after a couple of days and would look to get chances in the playing XI depending upon the playing combination for the Test series. Lawerence featured when these teams met during the Test series on Indian soil
