Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav guide India to 473/8 by the end of Day 2 in the 5th Test against England in Dharamshala

India’s strong performance on Day 1 continued into Friday’s play, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill securing centuries.

The second-wicket partnership added 171 runs before both batsmen departed. Devdutt Padikkal and Sarfaraz Khan contributed enterprising half-centuries in the middle order, although they couldn’t convert them into big scores before the day’s end.

Following the partnership, English bowlers quickly took two wickets, bringing India to 428/8. Jasprit Bumrah (19*) and Kuldeep Yadav (27*) displayed patience until stumps on Day 2, guiding India to 473/8 and establishing a lead of 255 runs.

In an interview with the broadcasters after the end of the play, Shubman Gill shared his thoughts on his innings, stating:

“It was my dad’s dream to play at this level, it was his vision, hopefully he’ll be proud of what I’ve been able to do. I thought the ball wasn’t doing much at that time, instinctively I wanted to play that shot and went over the top.”

“I feel everytime I go into bat, even today, I missed on a big one, missed that ball as I didn’t sight it properly. Everytime I go out there, I try to convert a good start into a big one.”
