IND vs ENG: [WATCH] Rohit Sharma Grabs A Sharp Catch To dismiss Ollie Pope

Rohit Sharma catch

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma showed great reflexes to take a brilliant catch slip to dismiss Ollie Pope during the fourth day of the second Test match against England at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. India has set England a target of 399 in the test match.

Ollie Pope walked out to bat on the fourth day after the night watch-man Rehan Ahmed was dismissed by Axar Patel. He looked in great tough, slamming five boundaries. However, he fell to Ravichandran Ashwin, who claimed his second wicket of the innings. The spinner came around the wicket to Pope, who tried to play the cut short. However, the ball took the outside edge and flew towards the left of the first slip.

Rohit Sharma had an initial trigger movement towards his right. However, he made a quick adjustment to stay focused on the ball. He moved to his left swiftly and took a stunning catch. Pope had to walk back to the pavilion for 23 runs from 21 deliveries, with England 132 for the loss of three wickets.

Rohit Sharma’s struggles with the bat so far in the series

Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has failed to make much of an impact with the bat in the first two test matches of the ongoing five-tests series against England. He was dismissed cheaply in both the innings in the Test match. He managed 14 runs in the first, followed by 13 in the second innings at Vishakhapatnam. The skipper did get starts in the first test, but couldn’t capitalise on those. India lost that test by 28 runs, in Hyderabad. It will be vital for the Indian team to have Rohit back amongst big runs in the series. He has played three Test matches this year, scoring just 145 runs at an average of 29.
