Fans cheer for successful DRS

The 4th Test between India and England began this morning (February 23) at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. The hosts, currently leading the 5-match series 2-1, saw England captain Ben Stokes winning the toss and choosing to bat on a challenging pitch.

Debutant pacer Akash Deep made a significant impact, causing a top-order collapse in the English batting lineup. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with a wicket each, leading to a successful first session for India as they reduced England to 112/5 at lunch on Day 1.

In Ranchi, spectators in the stadium relished the intense performance delivered by the Indian bowlers. Their emotions ran high as they passionately reacted to the home team’s success with a couple of impactful DRS reviews, leading to crucial wickets of Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow.

“DRS is not foolproof”- Aakash Chopra discusses Ben Stokes’ concerns regarding the umpire’s call in the Test series against India

Ben Stokes, the England captain, expressed displeasure when a couple of umpire’s call decisions didn’t favor his team in the recent Test and suggested that it should be done away with.

Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, shared his perspective on this matter in a recent video on his YouTube channel. He disagreed with Stokes, explaining that the umpire’s call should be retained as DRS is not entirely foolproof.

Aakash Chopra stated: “Ben Stokes has said that he is not liking DRS. He asked the umpire’s call to be removed. DRS is not foolproof. So you go towards the umpire’s call as you are not 100% certain. You say that is what was the umpire’s job, so you remain out if the umpire gave it out and not-out if he gave not-out. In fact, that was the truth. It is not a howler. What you are trying to remove is already removed by default.”
