Anil Kumble (619) and Kapil Dev (434) are the only two bowlers to be above Ashwin at the moment. He is just 16 shy of overtaking Kapil Dev’s tally now. The off-spinner hs went past Harbhajan’s tally in only 80 Tests which also shows the pace at which he has got his wickets.
Ashwin’s dismissal of Tom Blundell was another interesting wicket of the day. Blundell smothered the delivery from Ashwin but it bounced after pitching on the rough and hitting the top of the bails.

Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said that Ravichandran Ashwin and Kapil Dev are names that should be taken in the same breadth given their contribution for Team India.
The former KKR skipper opined that Ashwin and Kapil are definitely two of the best all-rounders Team India has ever had for a long period of time.

“Obvioulsy, I don’t think I am in a place to judge both of them, but I must admit that they should be spoken of in the same breath when it comes to Indian cricket because both of them have been match-winners, have been exemplary, and have been definitely the two best all-rounders to have come out of this soil for a long, long time,” Karthik explained.
