IND-W vs SA-W: [WATCH]- Match Referee Asks For A Second Toss After Crowd Noise Drowned Out Laura Wolvaardt’s Call In The 3rd ODI

In a rare incident, match referee Narayanan Kutty requested a second toss after South Africa women’s captain Laura Wolvaardt‘s call was inaudible due to crowd noise before the third and final ODI against India Women at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, June 23.

A video shared by the Indian Cricket Team on Instagram showed host Anjum Chopra calling for a re-toss. India women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur flipped the coin again, and Wolvaardt won the toss and chose to bat first. At the toss, she said:

“We gonna have a bat first today. Looks a bit dry, warmer, so hopefully, we can put a good score on the board.”

Laura Wolvaardt-led South Africa aims for a consolation win against India in the ODI series

South Africa is seeking a comfort win against India in the ODI series, trailing 0-2 inside the three-healthy series. At the time of writing, SA-W have been 50 without loss, with skipper Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits on the crease.

IND-W won the opening healthily by manner of 143 runs, way to a century from vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Asha Sobhana excelled with the ball, taking four-21 as the Women in Blue defended their overall of 265. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led crew edged out the visitors by way of four runs in an interesting 2nd ODI.

India published 325/3, with Smriti Mandhana and captain Harmanpreet Kaur scoring 136 (one hundred twenty) and 103 (88) respectively. In response, the Proteas reached 321/6 in 50 overs, with captain Laura Wolvaardt top-scoring with an unbeaten a hundred thirty-five and Marizanne Kapp hitting 114 off 94 balls.

Following the 3-match ODI series, the groups will compete in a one-off Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai starting June 28. India and South Africa will play a three-match T20I series at the same venue next month.
