Indian Cricket Team’s first World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev has suffered a massive heart attack earlier today (October 23). He underwent an angioplasty in a hospital in the capital state of Delhi as per reports.

2020 is getting worse with each passing day. While the entire world continues to fight the deadly coronavirus, more bad news awaits us. A journalist Teena Thacker confirmed the news on microblogging site Twitter as she wrote,

“Legendary cricketer Kapil Dev @therealkapildev suffers heart attack, undergoes angioplasty at a hospital in Delhi. Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

However, as per the latest reports, Kapil Dev’s condition is now stable. However, he continues to remain in the hospital under observation. The social media was flooded with messages and soon as the news surfaced on the virtual platform.

One of the finest of all, Kapil Dev has represented India in 131 Tests, amassing 5,248 runs in addition to picking up 434 wickets. The all-rounder also represented India in 225, ODIs, scoring 3,783 runs and picking up 253 wickets. His finest moment in the game came in 1983 when he led India to their first-ever World Cup triumph.

After bidding farewell to the game in 1994, the ‘Haryana Hurricane’ served as the head coach of the Indian. He took charge of the team in 1999 but had a forgettable stint with the team. He stepped down from the role in the wake of the match-fixing scandal.

Later he was cleared off all the charges and Kapil Dev also served as the head of the Cricket Advisory Committee which chose Ravi Shastri as the Indian head coach for the second term.
