India Announce Squad For The Upcoming T20 World Cup In South Africa

India Women’s Cricket team have announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be played in South Africa. Most of the players from the T20 World Cup squad will also participate in the tri-series, involving South Africa and West Indies.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side and hope to win their first ICC title. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma are the openers. Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet, Richa Ghosh, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, and Devika Vaidya consist of middle-order batters.

Renuka Thakur, Anjali Sarvani, and Shikha Pandey make a comeback into the T20 squad. Radha Yadav, Deepti Sharma, and Rajeshwari Gakywad comprise of spinners. Pooja Vastrkar has been included in the squad but inclusion in the squad for World Cup will be subject to fitness.

Sabbihiehni Meghana, Sneha Rana, and Meghna Singh have been included in reserves. Indian team would be looking to go one step forward as they reached the finals of the 2020 T20 World Cup played in Australia.

Reserves: Sabbhiehni Meghana, Sneha Rana, Meghna Singh.

India versus Pakistan (Newlands, Cape Town)- 12th February 2023

India versus West Indies (Newlands, Cape Town)- 15th February 2023

India versus England (St George, Port Elizabeth)- 18th February 2023

India versus Ireland (St George, Port Elizabeth)- 20th February 2023

 

Before the T20 World Cup, the Indian team will take on South Africa and West Indies in a tri-series to be played from 19th January 2023. Shafali Verma has not been included in the squad as she will captain the Indian Under 19 World Cup squad.

Sushma Verma would be the wicketkeeper batter while Sabbihiehni Meghana has been included as the second opener along with Mandhana.
