Ireland skipper Paul Stirling believes a successful performance against number one India in their opening men’s T20 World Cup game will boost their confidence for the remainder of the tournament.

It is the most difficult of starts for the Irish as they prepare for the Group A match in New York on Wednesday.

Ireland will be the first opponent for the Indian cricket squad in their group-stage match on Wednesday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Although the games in New York have been incredibly biased, this Wednesday’s encounter should be fascinating. Ireland could be a threat to the defending champions, given their impressive recent performance.

“We put in a strong performance:- Paul Stirling

The Ireland captain, Paul Stirling, has acknowledged the difficulty of their first-round T20 World Cup 2024 match against India on Wednesday, June 5. Regardless of the result, the 33-year-old believes they will gain confidence from a strong showing against the Men in Blue.

“India are a really difficult challenge; they’ve got some top bowlers, they’ve just come off the back of the IPL and we know what they bring is the highest quality in cricket standards. No matter what happens, if we put in a strong performance, we’ll go in with confidence into the next three games of the group,” Paul Stirling said.

Lorcan Tucker, Harry Tector, and Curtis Campher make up the middle-order batting for Paul Stirling’s team, while Josh Little and Mark Adair will lead the same bowling section. Andre Balbirnie is slated to open the inning alongside the skipper.

Ireland was eliminated from the group stage of the previous tournament.
