India Dominates Zimbabwe in Second T20I to Secure Series Lead

India delivered a dominant performance to defeat Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20I at Harare Sports Club on July 25, 2026. With this victory, India built an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

After Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to field first, India set a challenging target by scoring 219 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan led the batting lineup with a powerful innings of 81 runs off 44 balls, featuring nine fours and two sixes.

Tilak Varma supported him well with a fast-paced knock of 60 runs off 29 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Shreyas Iyer contributed 25 runs off 20 balls, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made a quick 20 runs off 9 balls.

For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani (1/36), Richard Ngarava (1/43), Brad Evans (1/44), Newman Nyamhuri (1/25), and Brian Bennett (1/22) claimed one wicket each.

Zimbabwe’s Pursuit

Chasing a target of 220, Zimbabwe failed to build sustained momentum and were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs. Top-order batter Brian Bennett was the top scorer for the home team with 32 runs off 19 balls, featuring three fours and three sixes.

Tadiwanashe Marumani added 24 runs off 19 balls, and Ryan Burl scored 20 runs off 18 balls. However, the rest of the batting order collapsed against disciplined Indian bowling.

India’s Bowling Highlights

India’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout the second innings. All-rounder Abhishek Sharma was the standout bowler, picking up three wickets for 17 runs in 2.5 overs. Prince Yadav delivered a tight spell to record two wickets for 10 runs in 1.2 overs, while fast bowler Yash Thakur claimed two wickets for 30 runs in four overs.

Ravi Bishnoi (1/20), Shivam Dube (1/13), and Tilak Varma (1/9) took one wicket each to complete the bowling performance. Ishan Kishan was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding 81-run knock. India will aim for a series sweep in the third and final T20I on July 26, 2026.
