Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is going through the toughest phase of his cricketing career. He hasn’t been able to perform as per the standards he set over the last decade. Several fans and cricketers have come in support of Virat Kohli in his tough phase. Former Pakistan Cricketer Rashid Latif is the latest addition to it.

While talking on his YouTube channel, Rashid Latif has backed Virat Kohli to make a strong comeback. Several fans and cricketers have also demanded for the axing of Virat from the Indian team. However Rashid Latif stated that there is no selector in India who can drop Virat. Rashid Latif said, ” India mein wo selector paida nahi hua hai jo Virat ko drop kar sake.”

Rashid Latif also criticised other Indian players for not performing when Virat didn’t perform. Latif said: “You are talking about one player, but the entire Indian team isn’t winning consistently either. You are putting the gun on Virat’s shoulders and keeping the other players safe. You look at the 2019 World Cup, 2021 T20 World Cup.. even when Virat didn’t perform, what were the others doing?”

Virat Kohli hasn’t had a good outing with the bat on the ongoing England tour. He scored just 31 runs in two innings in the test match and scored just 12 runs in the two T20I matches he played. He also suffered a groin injury due to which he missed the first ODI. In the 2nd ODI, Virat managed to score just 16 runs at Lords. It has been a tour to forget for Kohli.

“Williamson enduring similar phase as Kohli”- Rashid Latif

Rashid Latif revealed that due to technology, it’s easy to find weaknesses of top quality batsmen like Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Rohit Sharma. It would be interesting to see how Virat Kohli would come out of the tough phase. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also put up a tweet in support of Virat Kohli.

Rashid Latif also pointed out similarities between Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli who are struggling against short of length deliveries. “Kane Williamson is enduring a similar phase as Kohli. Short of length deliveries are a weakness for him. They all have to go to their basics, you need to consult your best coaches and work on your weaknesses.”, Rashid Latif added.
