The Indian Players stars including Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja were seen practising with a short preparatory camp ahead of the 1st test match played at VCA Stadium, Nagpur on 9 Feb. Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, KL Rahul, and Cheteshwar Pujara was the first among players to have nets on the social media accounts of BCCI.

India will face Australia in the first Test match of the four-match series starting on 9 Feb. Rohit Sharma and Co would be looking to dominate the Aussies on spinning pitches that could be provided in the Border Gavaskar series.

The Indian team is currently at the number 2 spot in ICC 2021/23 Test Championship cycle and would be looking to win the series to qualify directly for 2nd successive finals in this tournament.

Under the leadership of Rahane, India did the unthinkable by winning the Test series on Australian soil in 2020/21. After being bundled out for 36 runs in the second innings at Adelaide and turned back winning the second Test at Melbourne.

Ravindran Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari put on an amazing partnership of 62 not out, the match ended in a draw as the series remained level at 1-1.

Without their star players including Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bumrah, the Indian youngsters Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Natarajan, Pant and Gill won the historic match in Indian Test history. Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the first Test match due to a back injury. The options could be Surya Kumar Yadav or Shubman Gill at number 5.

It promises to be an exciting series between two top Test teams in the world. Australia would look to break their 19-year drought on winning series on Indian soil. Australia is practising at KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur on custom-made pitches that could the visitors go past the spin threat of Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja.

India and Australia played 8 Border Gavaskar Test series out of which, India won 7 while Australia once. The four Test matches will be played in Nagpur, New Delhi, and Dharmshala and the final match to be played in Ahmedabad.
